Patrick Tranel, Department of Crop Sciences, University of Illinois

Patrick Tranel is a Professor of Molecular Weed Science in the Department of Crop Sciences at the University of Illinois. His research program uses molecular and genomic tools to address weed science issues, and he is internationally recognized for contributions that have advanced our understanding of the evolution and underlying mechanisms of herbicide resistances. Complementing his basic research, Dr. Tranel collaborates extensively with more applied weed scientists at the University of Illinois and elsewhere, fostering a research program that is timely and relevant to weed management practitioners.
