Information and data on agrochemicals from studies published in the open literature are increasingly being used for assessment purposes by regulatory agencies in many jurisdictions, including North America and Europe. Because most of these studies are not conducted to the standards required of GLP studies for regulatory agencies, there is a need to assess these studies for their quality and relevance to the regulatory endpoints being considered. Weight of Evidence (WoE) offers a consistent, objective, and transparent method for assessing these studies and including them in risk assessments. The need for WoE and a method for conducting these analyses will be presented with
the herbicide atrazine as a case-example.
