Global Evolution of Toxicity Testing and Assessment of Chemical Risk in the 21st Century

Daland Juberg, Dow AgroSciences

Assessment of chemical hazard and risk has continued to evolve globally. Emerging issues influencing product review and registration include the push for animal-free testing, new technological approaches for toxicity testing, and use of epidemiological data and biomonitoring data. Geographical challenges and political influences will also continue to shape the success or failure of chemical product registrations in the years ahead.

Daland Juberg is Global Leader of the Human Health Assessment group within Dow AgroSciences R&D in Indianapolis, IN. He is presently chairing the TSCA Task Force and serving as President of the Regulatory and Safety Evaluation Specialty Section of the Society of Toxicology.
